BUA Cement Plc shareholders have approved dividends of NGN88.047bn (US$96.3m) for the financial year ended 31 December 2021 at NGN2.60k per ordinary share of 50k each. Mangal Industries Ltd has performed the groundbreaking ceremony of a greenfield cement plant in Iluagba, Kogi State, Nigeria. CEMEX has signed a three-year agreement to support waste removal efforts in Egypt’s Nile River. Lafarge Zimbabwe sells majority stake in its operations

Lafarge Zimbabwe is selling 76.45 per cent of its business to Fossil Mines Pvt Ltd. The Holcim group member announced on Monday that it was selling the majority stake in its business. This is a further sale for Holcim following recent divestments decisions taken in India for ACC Ltd and Ambuja Cements. The Manresa cement plant has a cement capacity of 0.45Mta and employees 800 people directly.  There is currently a 0.5Mta expansion project being constructed at the plant.

Sinai Cement reduces 1Q loss

Egypt-based Sinai Cement , owned by Vicat , has posted consolidated net losses after tax of EGP67.19m (US$3.6m) in the first quarter of 2022, an improvement when compared with the year-ago period when losses reached EGP147.97m. Standalone losses were reduced YoY to EGP66.25m from EGP146.23m. Revenues increased to EGP475.57m in the 1Q22 from EGP282.62m in the 1Q21, according to a bourse filing on 31 May.
