Raising global AFR usage
HeidelbergCement is building its resourceful waste management programme and extending its reach to more distant destinations as the value of alternative fuels in the cement industry becomes more widespread. The challenge of establishing co-processing in developing and emerging markets is fraught with problems but the global cement major is successfully achieving its goals in this area. Jan Theulen of HeidelbergCement details the group’s global co-processing strategy.

This approach has successfully been developed in European plants over the last 20 years and is now also being progressively applied in North America and emerging countries where landfill is gradually being replaced by more resource-efficient waste management practices.
