As Colombia embarks on an ambitious programme to modernise its infrastructure and meet its housing deficit, cement consumption is expected to substantially increase. Market leader Cementos Argos is now expanding its capacity, particularly in the central part of the country, to meet this market demand. By Cementos Argos, Colombia.

A leader in the Colombian cement, concrete and aggregates market since 1934, Cementos Argos is the fifth-largest producer of cement in Latin America, and the third-largest concrete producer in the United States. In its native Colombia, the company holds a 51 per cent market share and its current growth strategy has prompted the firm to invest US$93m to increase its cement production capacity by 0.9Mta in three of its 10 cement plants.
