When Reliance Cement planned the construction of a greenfield 0.6Mta grinding plant near Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, the cement producer called upon the engineering and supply services of Walchandnagar Industries Ltd. The Indian EPC supplier's experience and detailed supervision of Chinese parts helped ensure Reliance’s first venture into the domestic cement market was completed on time and within budget. Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group enters the cement business with its 0.6Mta Butibori grinding unit

Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), one of India's largest private diversified groups, has made its first foray into the cement industry through Reliance Cement Co Pvt Ltd (RCCPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd.

Overall, ADAG plans to set up a phased 50Mta of cement capacity across India. The first facility to be erected was a greenfield PPC grinding unit at Butibori, some 20km from Nagpur, central India. Being RCCPL's debut cement venture, commissioning the plant quickly and within budget was of key importance and posed a real challenge.
