With US cement demand back on an upward trend, domestic producers are keen to capture a larger share of the expanding market. In anticipation of growing demand, associated rises in production costs and changing production mix requirements, Ash Grove Cement’s packaging arm has invested in new automated bagging and palletising solutions at two of its packing plants, positioning the US producer for future growth. Brighter times are once again here for the US cement industry. The PCA’s Spring forecast anticipates an acceleration in market growth from 7.8 per cent in 2014 to 10 per cent annually in 2015 and 2016. By the end of the PCA’s current forecast period in 2018, the association expects total Portland cement consumption to rise to nearly 119Mt.

Staying one step ahead of anticipated rises in demand and changing customer needs, last year Ash Grove Packaging – the packaging arm of Ash Grove Cement –  selected Premier Tech Chronos to install key automated bagging and palletising equipment at its Harrisonville and Little North Rock packing facilities.
