A truly circular economy
With the circular economy as one of the EU’s current political priorities, European cement association Cembureau puts forward its views on the solutions which the cement industry can provide and how policy should be formulated to ensure that Europe encourages the best economic, environmental and social solutions at its disposal. The European Commission is currently working on a ‘new and improved’ circular economy package for Europe. Already in July 2014, the previous Commission published a circular economy package, the primary focus of which was tackling waste. With the arrival of the new European Commission, which took office in November 2014, it was felt that the package would need to include a much broader range of issues.
