Active in the Egyptian cement market for nine years, Arabian Cement Co has faced its fair share of hurdles. However, with the market now performing well and multiple major projects in the works, an interesting future lies ahead. ICR speaks with Arabian Cement’s management team.

ICR: Arabian Cement Co (ACC) has been operating in Egypt for nine years now. Like all producers in Egypt, the company has faced various hurdles, including the Arab Spring and energy shortages. How has the company evolved over this period in response to this challenging environment?

ACC: ACC has developed along several dimensions. We had to adapt our initial business model because of the changing economical environment, evolving from a clinker supplier focussed on exports to a fully-fledged cement manufacturer whose main target is to serve the local demand.
