Lafarge North America is selling its quarries, ready-mixed concrete plants and asphalt operations in the Denver, Colorado, area to Martin Marietta Materials. Payment will be made part in cash and partly by taking over quarries and distribution yards along the Mississippi from Martin Marietta. Provided regulatory approval is forthcoming, these deals should be completed before the end of this year.

The Lafarge subsidiary Cimenteries du Cameroun is to invest some €500m in a new cement works to be built at Nomayos, near Yaounde, in a joint venture with the Cameroon government. The new cement works will have an annual production capacity of 0.5Mt.
