Dangote Cement - October 2013


As part of its strategy to reach 55Mt of cement production by 2016, Dangote Cement recently announced plans to build a new cement plant in Niger. The plant, which is expected to cost US$350m, will have a production capacity of 1.5Mta. According to the company, the project will not only create up to 7000 new jobs, it will also produce its own electricity with any surplus being used to boost Niger’s existing inadequate power supply.
