HeidelbergCement's Belgian subsidiary CBR has further increased its position as the leading cement producer in Belgium by the acquisition of the Espabel cement grinding plant in the port of Ghent from the Belgo-Spanish venture established in 2010. The 0.75Mta works was commissioned in 2012. Espabel is believed to have sold just over 0.35Mt in the year just ended, using clinker coming from Turkey.
