Holcim’s Indian subsidiary ACC has emerged as the favourite to buy the majority stakes in the two cement works at Bhilai and Bokaro from the Jaypee Group that have a combined capacity of just over 4Mta. Both stakes stand at 74 per cent, with Steel Authority of India awning the remaining equity. Last year, Jaypee Group sold a 4.8Mta cement works to UltraTech to reduce debt levels.
