Dangote Cement - February 2016

Dangote’s announcement to build two new cement plants in Nigeria pushed the company’s share price up sharply earlier this month. The first plant, on which construction has already begun, is to be located in Okpella, Edo State. The US$500m works will have one line, adding cement production capacity of 3Mta. The second facility, to be built in Itori, Ogun State, will add a further 6Mta with two production lines. The extra 9Mta of capacity will raise the company’s local output from 29.25Mta to 38.25Mta. Both plants are due to be completed in the next three years.
