Raw Meal PSD

1.Is there any possible ways to alter bimodal particle size distribution of raw meal (product of VRM) to mono-modal particle size distribution?

2.Is the very nature of the raw materials can play an important role in the way they break up to produce bimodal particle size distribution?

Re: Raw Meal PSD

I presume you mean that there are two peaks in the particle size distribution? If so then the nature of the raw materials will be the cause. One material is so soft or fine that it is rapidly breaking done and forming the finer peak. Other coarser materials form the second peak. The only way to make this "mono-modal" would be to grind the entire raw material much finer to bring the corase peak down to the fine peak. The consequences and implications of doing that might well present operational problems.

Re: Raw Meal PSD

Dear Michael,

What is the conceptual difference between the terms PSD and granulometry?

Re: Raw Meal PSD

Granulometry would include particle shape as well as size.
