In refractory works, we drill the refractory in order to determine the thickness of the refractory lining. The draw back to this is

1. It takes too long

2. It requires at least 2 people

3. You cannot drill test the areas overhead

What is the experience with linometers? Does it work well? Refractechnik as well as Hogonas has developed linometers. What are your experiences with these types of units? Is there any refrectory management tools that have been developed?
