converting heat value

hello

How can we convert the ''heat value''  of natural gas from BTU/scf to kcal/Nm3 at atmospheric pressure and 60 F (15.6 C) temperature. I face problem in converting scf to Nm3 at a given temp and press.

regards

re converting heat value

Hello Abdulla,

According to this website;- http://www.qbmconsultants.com/conversion.html

1MJ/Nm3  =  25.368 BTU/scf  =  238.8 kcal/Nm3

Therefore, 1 BTU/scf  = 9.41 kcal/Nm3

(Standard cubic feet is measured at 60oF, 1 atm. while Normal cubic meter is at 0oC, 1atm.)

Regards,

Ted.

Dear Ted;

According to above website:

1 MJ/Nm3 = 25.368 BTU/scf = 238.8 x 102 kcal/Nm3

1MJ/NM3 = 25.368 BTU/scf = 243.576  kcal/Nm3

Then;

BTU/scf = 9.60 kcal/Nm3  Not 9.41 kcal/ Nm3 . Am I right or I have missed something?

Best Regards

Nael
