While showing a flat level of growth in 2003, Indonesian cement consumption grew at a strong rate in 2004. A number of producers are planning to increase their production capacities to meet such demand mainly thanks to an increased number of infrastructure projects following the 2004 elections. Talk of reducing exports has also hit the headlines as concerns mount over a shortage of supply by 2010. Such measures come particularly in light of reconstruction work needed in the Aceh province ? one of the areas worst effected by the tsunami of December 2004.
