US September shipments edge ahead YoY
Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for September 2011 were 7Mt, according to the latest data from the US Geological Survey. September’s figure was 3% higher than the same month in 2010.
Shipments for the year through September were 53.8Mt, slightly higher than those of the same period in 2010. The leading producing States in September were Texas, California, Missouri, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, in descending order and accounted for about 42% of the total production. The leading consuming States (Texas, California, Illinois, Florida, and Ohio, in descending order) received about 34% of the September total shipments.
Clinker production totaled 5.8Mt in September, slightly lower than the output in September 2010. Production for the year through September was 45.7Mt, slightly lower than that for the same period in 2010. The leading clinker-producing States in September were Texas, Missouri, California, Florida,
and Pennsylvania, in descending order, and accounted for about 47% of the September total. Published under Cement News
