Cement consumption in Honduras seen up 10%
29 November 2011

Cement consumption in Honduras this year increased by 10 per cent over 2010, resulting in part from  improvements made in the rural sector.

Domestic demand amounted to 1.5Mt of the construction product, according to the commercial director of Industria Cementera Honduras (Lafarge Incehsa), Dario Mencia.

"What is giving growth is the concrete market, coffee prices and remittances because there aren’t that many big projects," said Mencia, then referd to the company which closed sales at about 850,000t.

By 2012, the cement companies are considering an increase in consumption by around five per cent, provided that public and private investment are generated.
