Colombia sees October rise in production and dispatches

Colombian cement production in October 2011 totaled 948,900t, 13.8 per cent more than the same month in 2010, according to the Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadistica (DANE).

Cement shipments were also up 11.6 per cent YoY during the month to reach 887,700t. A total of 18 of the 21 departments showed YoY increases in demand, especially Casanare (58.3 per cent), Cordova (48.1 per cent), Nariño (39 per cent) and Cesar (38.6 per cent).

For the first 10 months of 2011, cement production and shipments grew 14.4 and 13.9 per cent, respectively over the same period of 2010. For this period, Cesar (with 44.3 per cent), Huila (with 35.7) and Casanare (with 34.1 per cent) registered the highest increases.
