Geocycle announces waste deal with Ford Australia
18 November 2011

Geocycle (Australia), the wholly owned subsidiary of Cement Australia, has joined forces with Ford Australia on a waste recycling project. Geocycle will process paint sludge from Ford’s Broadmeadows facility in Dandenong, Melbourne for use as an alternative fuel source to be supplied to Cement Australia’s cement production facilities.

Chris Leon, Cement Australia CEO and Managing Director, said in an interview with Northern Star, Australia: “Through its wholly owned subsidiary Geocycle, Cement Australia has invested considerable time and resources into aligning its capabilities with the needs and strategies of industry and regulatory authorities.”

As a result, the waste by-product will no longer have to be disposed of in landfill. Geocycle uses a ‘mega blender’ that separates organic waste from metal and turns it into useable fuel for a Cement Australia’s kiln.
