Lafarge WAPCO’s 4Q11 profit seen rising, Nigeria

Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc should expect improved returns for the year ending December 31, 2011, as the company last projected a profit after tax of NGN1.016bn for the fourth quarter of the year.

The quarter covers the months of October, November and December. According to the profit forecast by the company made available by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), a turnover of NGN18.658bn for the three months.

Given the nine months result of the company declared recently, analysts said that the projection would translate into higher profitability for the full year.

Lafarge WAPCO had declared a turnover of NGN44.548bn for the nine months ended September 30, 2011 and profit after tax (PAT) of NGN5.765bn.

With expected turnover of NGN18.658bn in the last three months of the year, the turnover for the full year would hit NGN63.206bn.

This showed a growth of 44 per cent above the NGN43.841bn recorded in the 2010.
