Lafarge WAPCO begins rail distribution of cement
In partnership with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc has started the nationwide distribution of cement by rail.
The partnership, which would ensure faster and regular supply of the company’s products (Elephant and Supaset cement) would see NRC moving about 2000t per week on a short-term and later 6000t on a weekly basis.
Speaking at the Ministerial flag-off to officially commence the operations at the Ewekoro Plant of the company, was the Managing Director and CEO of Lafarge WAPCO, Samy Abdelkader.
He said, “We will continue to partner with government in order to achieve the dream of self-sufficiency and availability of cement in Nigeria. This is another way to demonstrate our support to the Federal Government’s policy of backward integration in the cement sub-sector”.
