For the first eight months of 2011, Spain consumed 14.5Mt of cement, down 13.3% for the same period of 2010. Production stood at 15.7Mt, 12.4% lower than the first eight months of 2011.

Exports figures, however, are similar to those recorded last year, reaching 2.7Mt. Imports, on the other hand, were down 37.6% YoU.

For August 2011 alone, Spanish demand stood at 1.7Mt, representing a decline of 16.5% over August 2010, while the drop in production during the month was 23.5% to 1.8Mt.
