US June shipments up 2.8% MoM

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for June 2011 were 7.3Mt – up 2.8% higher than shipments in June 2010.  Shipments for the year through June were 32.1Mt, only slightly lower than those of the same period in 2010.

The leading producing states in June were Texas, Missouri, California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, in descending order, and accounted for about 41% of the total production. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, in descending order) received about 34% of the June total shipments.

Clinker production totaled 5.8Mt in June, 2% lower than the output in June 2010. Production for the year through June was 28.4Mt, slightly lower than that for the same period in 2010. The leading clinker-producing States in June were Texas, Missouri, California, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, in descending order, and these accounted for almost 47% of the total for the month.

June 2011 imports of cement and clinker of about 736,000t were up by about 9% from those in June 2010. Imports for the year totaled 2.86Mt, down by about 3% from those for the year through June 2010.
