Pakistan cement dispatches in July are expected to touch 2.7Mt, showing an improvement of 10 per cent over July 2010, industry sources said.

This improvement is attributed to higher demand from flood affected areas and inventory buildups by dealers due to lower prices on account of budgetary measures.

Domestic dispatches in July are expected to have remained around 1.97Mt, up 13 per cent from 1.74Mt seen in the same period last year. While exports in July have also shown some improvement as it is expected to increase by four per cent to 0.8Mt compared to 0.77Mt in the same period last year.

“With only half of the allocated development fund expected to be utilised in FY12 along with slowdown in export markets, the dispatch growth would only show an improvement of 5-10 per cent to 33-35Mt in FY12,” Furqan Punjani, an analyst said.
