Century Ply India to invest in cement facilities, India

India’s second largest plywood manufacturer Century Plyboards India Ltd (CPIL) will invest INR16.3bn to establish fibre board, particle board, cement and plywood facilities, firm’s MD Sajjan Bhajanka told the Business Line.

The firm’s subsidiary Cement Manufacturing Co Ltd through its unit Star Cement Meghalaya Ltd is establishing a clinker plant with a total production capacity of 1.75Mta at Lumshnong in Meghalaya, Bhajanka said.

The Cement Manufacturing Co is also establishing grinding units at Kahalgaon in Bihar and Guwahati in Assam with a combined capacity of 3.2Mt.

After these expansions, the production capacity of the subsidiary will increase to 4.4Mta from the present 1.2Mta with an investment of INR11bn.
