Docemca withdraws Pro-Consumidor complaint, Dom. Republic
17 June 2011

The suit filed against the consumer protection agency Pro-Consumidor in the wake of a ban on the sale of Jamaica cement brand Carib for lacking a required quality test certification, was dropped by its distribution company Docemca, in Dominican Republic’s Administrative Superior Court.

Docemca represented by the lawyer Francisco Tabares, desisted from the litigation against Pro-Consumidor as soon as the Public Works Ministry issued the non-objection certificate after verifying its quality, the lack of which halted the sale of Carib cement, which languished at the port at Boca Chica for weeks, after it was unloaded off a freighter.

The Administrative Superior Court will hand down a ruling, giving the plaintiffs two days to file the documents dropping the claim.
