Lafarge has filed a patent, entitled “Composition for trapping CO2”, for a hydraulic binder which it claims transforms CO2 into carbonates and/or bicarbonates. According to the abstract posted by the World Intellectual Property Organization: "The present invention relates to a hydraulic binder characterised in that said binder comprises at least enzymes that catalyse the trapping and transformation of CO2 into carbonates and/or bicarbonates, the hydraulic binder being free of cement kiln dust (CKD)." The patent was filed on Oct. 20, 2010 under Application No. PCT/FR2010/052240. Published under Cement News
