Holcim (US) Inc has announced that its Theodore plant, located in Theodore, AL, is the recipient of the 2011 Cement Industry Energy and Environment Award, specifically in the Environmental Performance category.

The award is sponsored by the Portland Cement Association (PCA) and Cement Americas magazine. Winners are selected by an independent panel of judges. In addition, the Theodore facility was selected as a Runner Up in the Outreach category.

Holcim was awarded the distinction during the PCA Sustainable Manufacturing Awards celebration at the PCA Spring Board of Directors meeting in Chicago on 18 April 2011.

"It is wonderful to have employees at our Theodore plant recognised for the focus they place on the environment," said Bernard Terver, president and chief executive officer of Holcim (US).  "They are committed to making a difference. They work hard, have fun, and truly enjoy being part of the Theodore community and communities surrounding the plant." Published under Cement News
