Los Altos committee finds Lehigh emissions pose no risk

Los Altos committee finds Lehigh emissions pose no risk
10 April 2011

An ad hoc committee has wrapped up its investigation into a local cement plant’s emissions. The committee found the Lehigh Southwest cement plant is emitting toxins 100 to 300 times below the trigger level.

The findings come from a committee made up of members of the Los Altos City Council and the Los Altos Hills Town Council.

Still, the committee says it plans to hire an independent auditor to review data and provide an expert’s opinion. The contract will be awarded sometime in the next 45 days.

The investigation came after some citizens’ groups voiced distrust over data the plant was reporting to the government.
