US January shipments rise six per cent
Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for January 2011 were 3.7Mt, according to recent data from the USGS. This was 6% higher than shipments in January 2010.
The leading producing states (Texas, California, Missouri, Florida, and Alabama, in descending order) shipped 53% of the January total. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Louisiana, and Arizona, in descending order) received about 48% of the January total shipments.
Clinker production totalled 3.4Mt in January, about 10% below the output in January 2010. The leading clinker producing states (Texas, California, Alabama, South Carolina, and Missouri, in descending order) produced about 54% of the January total. Published under Cement News
