Zambezi Portland Cement (ZPC) Limited says it will this year construct a cement plant in Lusaka’s Chilanga area, Zambia, according to local press reports.

ZPC managing director Antonio Ventriglia said the plant is expected to have a capacity of 2000tpd.  “We have reached the final stages of feasibility studies to set up a brand new cement plant in Lusaka to be located in Chilanga area,” Mr Ventriglia said. Construction is slated to begin by the end of this year.

Mr Ventriglia said the plan to set up a cement plant in Lusaka is to enhance distribution of ZPC’s products to the Southern region.

He also commended the Zambian government’s investment policies in the country. Mr Ventriglia cited the construction works at Kafue gorge and plan to set up a stadium in Lusaka as some of the big investments that were taking place in the area. The housing initiative policy by government was another project taking place in the construction sector.
