Cement sales in South Africa were down 5.2 per cent YoY in December 2010 to 746,514t from 787,719t in December 2009, data from the Cement and Concrete Institute showed on Wednesday.
Domestic sales on a year-to-date basis were down 7.8% at 10.87Mt, from 11.78Mt for the same period in 2009.
The moving annual total in SA was down 7.8% YoY in December 2010 to 10.87Mt from 11.78Mt in December 2009.
Cement sales in SA had edged up 2% YoY in November to 1.045Mt from 1.024Mt at the same time a year ago.
However, November 2010 had one more sales day than November 2009. If this increase had been taken into account, cement sales were 2.6% lower than November 2009.
