Andhra Pradesh to see significant capacity additions
04 January 2011

A little over 17Mt of fresh capacity will be added during 2010-11 in Andhra Pradesh alone, the largest cement market in the southern region, and also the State with the highest installed capacity in the region, reports the Business Line.

This comes at a time when the State is going through a prolonged period of slump in cement demand.
Of this, the Nalgonda cluster will account for close to 9Mt of fresh capacity, followed by the Yerraguntla (3.2Mt) and the Kurnool with (3Mt) clusters.

The companies that will be adding capacity during this financial year include Jaypee Cements (2.5Mt), Zuari Cements (2Mt), Penna Cements (1.5Mt), NCL (1.4Mt), and Andhra Cements and KCP Cements (1Mt each).
