Cuban plant operations upgrade
28 December 2010

The recently completed maintenance and repairs carried out at the 26 de Julio cement manufacturing plant in Nuevitas, about 84 km north-east of Camagüey, has ensured the completion of the annual plan of this factory and should favour improved production in 2011.

The plant which has now been in service for 43 years has recently seen the repair of the limestone crusher, upgrading of a heat exchanger as well as the upgrade of a silo to improve the production and storage has helped push production to over 100,000t in 2010 much of which has been used in new housing construction following the 2008 hurricanes.
