Cement sales in Japan in November grew 8.8 per cent from a year before to 3,998,000t, marking the first rise since May 2007, the Japan Cement Association said Friday.

Cement demand shows signs of recovery following increases in capital investment by the private sector and the number of housing starts, industry sources said.

At a press conference, an executive of the group said that although cement demand might not recover easily, it is actually growing nationwide.
