Holcim starts construction of new factory in Indonesia

PT Holcim Indonesia has marked the start of construction of a new cement factory in Tuban, East Java, with ground breaking ceremony yesterday.

The project that includes a port facility, will cost around US$450m, Eamon Ginley, the president of he country’s third largest cement producer said.

Construction of the new factory, the third owned by the Indonesian units of the Swiss based cement giant Holcim Corp. is to be completed in 2013, Ginley said.

Holcim already has two cement plants - in Narogong, West Java with a capacity of 8.3Mt of clinker and in Cilacap, Central Java, with a capacity of 9.96tpa of cement.
