Catalan cement companies to reduce emissions

Catalan cement companies have pledged to reduce their CO2 emissions by at least 1Mt by 2015 with the replacement of fossil fuels in their activity and recovery of waste in the plants, to comply with the Kyoto protocol.


The general board of the The Environmental Quality of the Government and the Association of Cement Manufacturers of Catalonia (Ciment Català) have promoted a voluntary agreement to reduce industrial pollution.

The cement companies will publish the information on emissions from participating cement factories  and it will be easier for these firms receive the  tax breaks for environmental investments to which they are entitled.
