Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB Corporation), delivers 7.5 to 10.5 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd) of natural gas to Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento (Soboce) and plans to build a new pipeline from Achica Arriba until Viacha to increase the flow of energy up to 20 MMcfd and benefit the entire industrial park established under the heading of construction in the area.

The National Measurement and Regulation supervisor dependent on the National Management Gas and Pipeline Network of YPFB Corporation, Warner Cruz, said yesterday that the construction of a new pipeline to Viacha is part of an agreement that is considered among the state oil company, National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) and Soboce to resolve the issue of gas supply in the short and long term.

YPFB will provide the material to build the new pipeline in the long term, this means between 65 and 70 per cent of the total cost of the work. "We are going to take care of the material [pipes] and they [Soboce] civil works comprising mechanical and trenching, construction of houses, stands, welding, welding and X-ray bending pipe if necessary, " said Cruz.

The new 19 km pipeline, whose construction will take at least six months, will extend from Achica Arriba until Viacha, where the Soboce plant is located and measures eight inches in diameter, with a carrying capacity 20MMpcd. This work will cost US$5.1m.
