India’s cement demand grew at a sluggish pace of 2%-3% in the July-September quarter due to seasonal factors, but could improve significantly in the second half of the fiscal year, a senior executive at J.K. Cement Ltd said Wednesday.

Chief Financial Officer A.K. Saraogi told Dow Jones Newswires the July-September quarter was a challenging one, with both price realizations and despatches down, as construction activity slowed due to monsoon rains.

He said the end of rains in September will boost demand growth to 7%-8% in the October-March period from a year earlier.
