To make way for urban development from Barranquilla to Puerto Colombia, Argos confirmed the shuttering of three kiln lines. The vice president of corporate affairs of the cement company, Carlos Raul Yepes, said that following the closures, clinker will be brought in from other plants.
Yepes said: "Argos is not closing its plant in Barranquilla, nor the facilities Sabanagrande."
He said the dismantling of the kilns would gradually, but did not state from when. "Clinker production will not continue, only the grinding, packaging and dispatch of cement."
