Pakistan cement dispatches fall
05 October 2010

All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) said on Monday that private sector dispatches (local and exports) stood at 1.378Mt of cement during the month of September 2010 compared to 1.51Mt in August 2010 - recording a downfall of 8.74 per cent.

The fall further increased to 20.85 per cent if compared with total dispatches of September 2009 (1.741Mt).

An official of APCMA told CemNet that local and export dispatches have been declined due to unprecedented floods in country, slow activities of construction during the month of Ramadan, Eid holidays, poor cement prices and some uncertainty on political fronts.

He said out of total dispatches of 1.378Mt, the country exported about 622,970t of cement in September 2010 compared to 890,000t in August 2010 - showing a fall of 30 per cent and 24.16 per cent if compared with September 2009 (821,4103t).

On a more gloomy side, Pakistan observed a negative growth of 17 per cent and 25 per cent in local dispatches and export dispatches respectively in last three months to September 2010 over first quarter of the last fiscal year.
