28 September 2010

Algeria’s Minister of Spatial Planning and the Environment, Cherif Rahmani, inaugurated yesterday a new bag filter at the Chlef cement works, hailing it as “an advance to the environment”.

The new filter is part of a concerted effort to replace the plant’s old ESPs and improve its environmental performance. The company has invested ALD950m in the installation and commissioning of the latest generation baghouse and is viewed as instrumental in meeting the ISO14001 environmental standard.

In addition, it will also facilitate the launch of the third production line which is nearing completion. The plant aims to double its production capacity, which is currently at 2.35Mta.
