Indonesia consumption to rise 10%
22 September 2010

Indonesian cement consumption is forecast to rise 10 per cent to 44Mt in 2011 from this year’s estimate of 40Mt.

The growth rate is higher than the annual growth of 5-7 per cent in the past several years, the association of cement producers (ASI) said.

ASI chairman Urip Timuryono said the government regulation requiring acceleration of infrastructure development would contribute to increase in cement consumption in the country.

Urip said development of property projects by the private sector would also contribute to rise in cement consumption.

He estimated that the private sector would account for 60 per cent and the government sector for 40 per cent of cement consumption.
