Indonesia July sales up 6.6%
26 August 2010

Cement sales in Indonesia rose 6.6 per cent to 3.74Mt in July from 3.51Mt in the same month last year.

The increase in cement sales was attributed mainly to revival of the property and lower lending rates, the association of cement producers (ASI) said.

Increase in demand is not significant from the infrastructure sector as there was no much headway made in the implementation of the government’s infrastructure projects, ASI chairman Urip Timuryono said.

Significant progress, however, is predicted in the second half of this year with the government expected to start disbursement of the infrastructure budget, Urip said.
