Siam Cement PCL, Thailand’s largest industrial conglomerate by revenue, is exploring business opportunities in Myanmar to tap the neighbour’s potential, particularly in building materials and cement, the Nation reported Monday, citing chief executive Kan Trakulhoon.

Myanmar’s border is close to southern China and the transportation system between the two countries has been improved as part of the Greater Mekong Sub-regional development scheme. So entering the Thai market could allow Siam Cement to access China, Kan said.

Meanwhile, Siam Cement Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Roongrote Rangsiyopash said the company was also eying Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Laos and Myanmar.
