08 July 2010

Until January 2011 Votorantim has guaranteed the unloading of 10 ships in Fortaleza, with at least 30,000t of cement imported from Vietnam, to complement the growing demand in Ceará.

According to Commercial Director of Votorantim, Marcelo Chamma. "We’re bringing about 600 000 bags per vessel. I unload the first ship days ago, and we are second in Porto Mucuripe, awaiting clearance to unload,”  adding that the goods have not been released because of problems with the documentation. "I think it should be resolved soon." said Chamma.

The company is building a factory in the town of Baraúna (RN), close to the Apodi Plateau, Valley Jaguaribe, with capacity to produce 110,000t per month - which will also increase the availability of supplies in Ceará.
