Lafarge aims to double its production capacity in China, where it currently generates 10% of its output.

The group’s CEO Bruno Lafont reminded that this target was set two years ago.

The Chinese production capacity of Lafarge represents 24Mt, which is the equivalent of its Western-European capacity.

Lafont stressed that thanks to the sites’ extensions in the country, the company will be able to boost its output to 35Mtat the end of this year and to 40Mt in 2011.
