Demand for cement in India is expected to rise 9-10 per cent in 2010, the chairman of ACC said on Thursday.

“We foresee demand will grow briskly, driven by infrastructure and steady growth in housing construction,” Chairman NS Sekhsaria said at the company’s annual shareholders meeting.

ACC is India’s second leading cement producer and is 46 per cent-owned by Holcim.

The company has recently said it is working towards increasing its market share and growth this year, with plans on the drawing board for further industry expansion.
