New project give boost to Pakistan demand
The start of construction work on new small apartment projects and large scale renovation of houses have pushed up local demand and sales of cement.
Around 35-40 new small apartment projects have been launched in Karachi since Ramazan last year. In addition, many people have started renovation of their houses as steel prices are comparatively low this year along with the fall in cement prices.
According to figures by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) total domestic sales in July-Feb 2009-10 increased to 14.6Mt from 12.9Mt in the same period of the last fiscal.
